Mark your calendars—Wednesday, October 15th is White Cane Day, and we’ve got a sweet way to celebrate!
White Cane Day is a national day of recognition that celebrates the independence, achievements, and contributions of people who are blind or visually impaired. At Austin Lighthouse, our mission is to empower blind Texans by developing skills, building careers and fostering independence—and community support makes that possible.
We’re teaming up with Amy’s Ice Creams – South Congress (1301 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX) for a profit share from 11:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m..
When you stop by, just mention “Austin Lighthouse” at the register (or in the chef’s notes if you order online) and a portion of your purchase will support our mission.
So grab your friends, enjoy a scoop (or two), and help us celebrate White Cane Day in the sweetest way possible—while supporting opportunities for blind Texans to thrive.
More White Cane Day Fun
Want to keep the White Cane Day fun going? Join us earlier in the day for our annual White Cane Day March in downtown Austin on Wednesday, October 15th. We’ll gather at 8:45 a.m. in front of Austin City Hall and march together to the Texas State Capitol. After the march, head over to the White Cane Day Celebration at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for music, food, and community fun!
